In order to support the innovation of the teams, rules restricting design are set to a minimum. For example, the cars do not have to meet a minimum weight. Furthermore, there is no restriction concerning the actuation technology used in the car.

Due to these rules cars typically weigh 150 to 300 kilograms. Engines typically range up to 90 hp in order to meet high level performance requirements.
